A $300 hotel room for $90 with the Starwood Amex

One of the great features of the Starwood hotel points program is the ability to use 'cash and points' at select hotels for great bargains.

For example, the Diplomat Golf Resort and Spa in Fort Lauderdale runs about $300 per night. However, with Starwood points, you can pay just $90 per night + 4800 points. That's about $200 in extra value just for 4800 points -- or over a 4% cash return on your credit card spending.
